Quellen & Standards

At Medienlinker, we know that trust is earned by being clear about where we get our information and how we handle it. This page sets out the sources we rely on day to day, the checks that stand behind every article, and the process we follow if you want to challenge something we have published. The standards described here apply to everything that appears under our masthead, whether it is a news story, analysis or background piece.

What do we rely on day to day?

Our reporting draws on primary sources such as official documents, government press releases, parliamentary records, corporate filings, statistics from agencies like Statistiska centralbyrån and Eurostat, and direct statements from politicians, officials and experts. We also use established news agency material from providers such as TT, Reuters and DPA, and regularly cite Swedish and international newspapers, journals and broadcasters when their reporting is relevant and properly attributed. Each article lists the specific sources consulted in the text or through links, and our editorial team maintains a shared library of verified reference databases, legal texts and economic indicators that all staff can access. Every reporter is required to name their sources in the editorial system, and editors check that those sources are authoritative and up to date before publication.

How do we verify what we publish?

Verification starts before a story is written. Our reporters and editors use a standard checklist that includes confirming the identity of human sources, cross‑checking facts against at least two independent sources where possible, and noting the date and context of official data. The fact‑checking team, led by Sandra Mayer (Emma Sandberg), reviews every article flagged as sensitive or data‑heavy before it can go live. For statistics, we pull the original dataset and recalculate where feasible; for quotes, we press for verbatim records or recordings. When a source cannot be independently confirmed, we disclose that limitation in the article. AI‑assisted tools may help with initial research or translation, but no AI‑generated quote, fact or interview is ever used without explicit human approval. Our full policy on automation is available at /ai-automation-policy/.

What you can expect from us

You can expect that every piece of journalism we publish has been written by a named journalist, reviewed by an editor, and fact‑checked before it appears. You can expect that corrections will be handled transparently under our corrections policy, and that any error significant enough to change the meaning of an article will be corrected promptly with a note explaining the change. You can expect that sponsored or commercial content is always labelled, and that our editorial conclusions are never dictated by advertisers or partners – details are in our advertising and affiliate disclosure. You can expect that the team behind the reporting is named on our our team page, and that the editor‑in‑chief, Sebastian Lorenz, is ultimately responsible for everything we publish. And you can expect that we will treat your concerns seriously, with a clear path to raise them.

How can you challenge our reporting?

If you believe we have made a factual error, used an unreliable source or presented information in a misleading way, please tell us. The fastest route is to contact our fact‑checking desk directly at emma.sandberg@medienlinker.de or use the corrections email at corrections@medienlinker.de. Alternatively, you can submit a complaint through our complaints procedure, which outlines the steps we follow from acknowledgement to resolution. For errors that involve a named individual or organisation, we aim to respond within two working days. If we agree that a mistake has been made, we correct the article and publish a correction notice. If we disagree, we explain why in writing. All complaints are logged and reviewed by the editor‑in‑chief, and serious or unresolved disputes may be escalated to an independent third party under our ownership and funding framework. We also welcome tips and suggestions for improvement at any time via tip us or directly to the newsdesk.
