Who is responsible for corrections at Medienlinker?

Sandra Mayer, Ansvarig för faktagranskning, leads the standards desk that handles all correction requests at Medienlinker. She and her team review every reported error, verify the facts, and decide what corrective action is needed. All corrections are processed through corrections@medienlinker.de.

The standards desk operates independently of the newsroom to ensure impartiality. Sandra Mayer reports directly to Chefredaktör Sebastian Lorenz when an error raises broader editorial concerns. This structure guarantees that corrections are handled thoroughly and without pressure from commercial or editorial interests.

How do I report an error?

Email the standards desk at corrections@medienlinker.de with the article URL, a clear description of the mistake, and any supporting sources. The team will acknowledge receipt within one business day. You can also use the general contact address info@medienlinker.de, but corrections sent direct to the specialised desk are processed faster.

Please include your name and contact details if you would like a follow-up. Anonymous reports are accepted, but they may delay verification. The desk treats all submissions confidentially and does not share personal information outside the correction process.

What happens after you report an error?

The standards desk reviews your report, checks the original source material, and determines whether a material error exists. If the error is factual and significant, the article is updated with a correction note explaining what was changed and why. The desk aims to complete this process within two business days.

For minor typographical errors, the correction may be made silently without a public note, unless the mistake affects meaning. In all cases, the reporter receives a response explaining the outcome. If the desk decides no change is needed, the reasoning is provided. You can escalate any unresolved issue to Chefredaktör Sebastian Lorenz via the complaints procedure.

What you can expect from us

Medienlinker commits to correcting errors promptly, transparently, and in a way that restores trust. Every material correction is accompanied by a note that states the original error, the corrected fact, and the date of the change. The note remains at the top or bottom of the article permanently.

We do not delete articles to hide mistakes. If a story requires substantial revision, we issue a full update notice and, when appropriate, a standalone clarification. Our editorial policy and fact‑checking policy provide the principles that guide these decisions. Readers can also review our ownership and funding to understand the independence of our correction process.

What types of corrections do we publish?

Material errors — incorrect names, dates, figures, quotes, or factual claims — receive a correction note. The note explains the mistake and the correct information. We also publish clarifications when an article may be misleading even if no fact is wrong.

We do not issue retractions lightly, but if an entire article is found to be based on false premises, the piece will be removed or replaced with a prominent retraction notice. Minor edits, such as spelling or grammar fixes, are made without a note unless they affect the substance of the report. In all cases, the standards desk logs every change for internal audit.

Questions or concerns?

If you have any questions about this policy or about a specific correction, contact Sandra Mayer at the standards desk (corrections@medienlinker.de). For unresolved complaints, Chefredaktör Sebastian Lorenz is the final point of escalation. Readers can also refer to the complaints procedure for formal steps beyond the correction process. Further information is available in our editorial policy and fact‑checking policy.
