What makes a good tip for Medienlinker?
A good tip is specific, verifiable and relevant to our editorial mission of trustworthy Swedish journalism. We are particularly interested in policy developments, public-interest stories and institutional decisions that affect people in Sweden and beyond.
Concrete examples include: draft legislation or regulatory proposals from the Riksdag or Regeringen; internal documents from government agencies or kommuner; evidence of systemic failures in welfare, education or infrastructure; whistleblower accounts of misconduct in public or private institutions; economic data that contradicts official narratives; and cultural or societal trends with clear documentary support. We also value tips that connect Swedish affairs to broader European or global contexts. Vague rumours or untraceable allegations do not constitute a good tip.
How can I send a tip to your newsroom?
You can reach our editorial team directly using the dedicated function email addresses. The most efficient route is tips@medienlinker.de, which reaches our newsdesk and is reviewed daily by Redaktionschef Melanie Vogt.
For time-sensitive or complex stories, you may also use newsdesk@medienlinker.de. If your tip concerns a matter that requires press accreditation or a formal media inquiry, please use press@medienlinker.de. For all other general enquiries, info@medienlinker.de is the appropriate address. Every incoming message is logged and routed to the relevant editor without delay.
What should I include in my tip?
To help us assess your tip quickly and thoroughly, please include as much of the following as possible: a clear summary of the information you hold; the specific institution, person or policy area involved; the date or timeframe of the events in question; any documents, files, links or recordings that support your account; and your preferred level of anonymity.
If you are sharing documents, please indicate their origin and whether you have permission to disclose them. You do not need to provide your full name, but a secure contact method (such as an encrypted email address or a Signal number) allows us to follow up for clarification. Tips that contain only unsupported opinion or hearsay are unlikely to be pursued.
How does Medienlinker verify tips?
Verification is led by Sandra Mayer, our Ansvarig för faktagranskning, who oversees a structured process before any story proceeds. Every tip is first triaged by the newsdesk to determine plausibility and public-interest value.
If a tip is deemed credible, our fact-checking team cross-references the information against official records, public databases, independent experts and primary sources. We require at least two independent corroborating sources for factual claims before publication. Our verification process is detailed in our fact-checking policy and our broader Sources & Standards page. No tip is published without confirmation from the standards desk.
Will my identity be protected if I send a tip?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our journalistic practice. Medienlinker Media Ltd. takes source protection seriously and will not disclose your identity without your explicit consent, unless compelled by a valid legal order from a Swedish or EU court.
If you request anonymity, we will not record your name in our editorial system. We recommend using encrypted email (such as ProtonMail) or secure messaging apps (Signal) to communicate sensitive information. Please note that standard email is not encrypted by default. You are also welcome to submit material anonymously without providing any contact details, though this may limit our ability to follow up.
What happens after I submit a tip?
Once your tip is received, it enters our editorial workflow. The newsdesk acknowledges receipt within 48 hours where possible, though high volumes may delay individual replies. Redaktionschef Melanie Vogt or a designated editor then assesses whether the tip fits our editorial priorities and meets our verification threshold.
If the tip is pursued, it is assigned to the relevant beat reporter — for example, Politikredaktör Alexander Dietrich for Riksdag stories, Wirtschaftreporter Laura Pfeiffer for economic leads, or Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Daniel Neumann for society and culture. If the tip does not meet our standards or is outside our remit, we may not proceed, but we do not discard information: it remains on file for future reference. We will contact you only if we require further details or if your tip leads to a published article.
What you can expect from us
You can expect that every tip is treated with care, reviewed by a named editor and evaluated against our editorial policy. We will not sensationalise your information, misrepresent your account or publish without thorough fact-checking.
We will also clearly label any sponsored or commercial content separately, as outlined in our Advertising and affiliate disclosure. Our commercial relationships, funding from display advertising, affiliate links and content licensing, never influence which tips we pursue or how we report them. If your tip leads to a story that uses AI-assisted tools for research or transcription, that fact is disclosed in the article metadata, and human editorial judgement remains final.
How do I submit a correction?
If you believe an article based on a tip contains an error, please send details to corrections@medienlinker.de. Our full procedure is explained in the corrections policy. The standards desk, led by Sandra Mayer, reviews every correction request and issues transparent updates when warranted.
